Book Suggestion Boards
A quick and easy way to help students to find books that interest them is to set up a book suggestion bulletin board. I simply took a large piece of butcher paper and taped it to one of the doors in my classroom. I wrote on it, "Help! What should I read?" I then modeled for my students how to write down a book's title, author, and a couple of sentences that will encourage others to read the book. Students enjoy reading what others wrote when looking for a book to read. Students also enjoy showing their expertise on the books that they have finished by writing on the board.
